Victorian speed skater Daniel Greig is in Europe training to compete in upcoming World Cup ice skating events, with the aim of qualifying for the Winter Olympic Games.

Team Bayside speed skater Shane Yost has finished second in the 2008 Inline Vert World Championships in Seattle two weeks ago. What a great result for Shane who is now back in Melbourne to compete at the Victorian Speed Skating Championships next weekend.

Speed skating is on the short list of sports bidding to be included into the Summer Olympics program for 2016. A decision will be made next year between 7 sports: Golf, Rugby, Squash, Karate, Roller Speed Skating, Softball and Baseball.
