Monthly Masters Tournament
May 13th, 2008Newsletter #2 13/05/2008
Dear Curmudgeons
The 3rd Monthly Masters comp was another success with a total of 33 skaters and no broken hips! This allowed us to play a 4 team round robin with a metal round that couldn’t determine an outcome due to complete incompetence of organizers and players unable to score in overtime.
The Black Team, never losing a game in the robin, played off against the boys from Geelong (with Clint & Ken added to their line-up to slow them down). The Greens (Geelong) jumped out to a 2 – 0 lead surprising the over confident finalists, however bowed to the pressure and forcing an overtime period of utter disgrace. A comp with no winner or loser, how civilised and pathetic at the same time! Actually it was a great overtime period with the puck refusing to cooperate as usual.
Highlights – Yeah Right….
Thanks to Darryl’s kids for running the clock, Ross for the cheap night, and Bruce & Kylie of the Cougars for the use of their Jerseys! I’d thank the goalies but refuse to give in to extortion.
The next Monthly Masters may be in July as we are looking at the possibility of putting together a Masters/Veterans Division in the Vic Championships on the Queens Birthday starting Friday June 6th. More about the details soon.
For those that can’t get enough “Old Time Hockey” there is an Over 28 comp starting this Friday May 16 at 9.00 pm at Puckhandlers. It will start as an organised weekly scrimmage and hopefully grow into a competition over the next three weeks.
See you there!
